$5 for $84.88 Worth of Products at CVS 1/15 1/21

Welcome to my $5 Drugstore post! Every Saturday I pick one, and only one, drugstore deal that I think is best for new people starting out with coupons. When I started out, I kept running between every store across town to stock up on the deal, only to realize two things:

Using up precious gas dollars is not saving me money.
Using up precious time is taking away quality time with my family.

This is not Extreme Couponing, but it is doable couponing for the rest of us! My challenge is to not use more than $5.99 out of pocket and see how far I can s-t-r-e-t-c-h my money. My pick these week is CVS! No doubt, they have some great deals on Brita, Almay and Spinbrushes ( I love these!) and…this is how I buy diapers! I always post the best case scenario, assuming you have these coupons.

Some notes about shopping at CVS:

Their cash back program is called Extra Care Bucks (ECB), it prints at the bottom of your receipt.
Use your store loyalty card every time you shop.
Scan your card at the red coupon machine inside the store for CVS store coupons.
You can use a CVS store coupon with a Manufacturer coupon on one item.

Transaction #1:
1 Almay Intense i–Color Shadow, liner or mascara $5.99 (limit 1)
Use the $2 off 1 coupon from the 1/1 Sunday insert
Use the $3 off 1 coupon from last week’s red coupon machine (if you dont have it, try on Sunday you might still get it !)
=$.99, get back $3 ECB

1 Colgate Total or Sensitive toothpaste $2.77 (limit 2)
Use the $1 off 1 coupon found in the Dec. All You mag or 1/1 or 1/15 Sunday Inserts
Use the $1 off 1 CVS store coupon found in the CVS Reinventing Beauty Magazine
=$0.77, get back $1 ECB

2 Arm and Hammer Spinbrushes $5.99/each

Use 2 $2 off 1 from HERE

Submit for rebate when you buy 2 spinbrushes from 12/11 Sunday Insert

=$0, get back $4 ECB and make $2.02 profit from rebate

1 Brita Pitcher $14.99

Use $4 off 1 from 1/15 Sunday Newspapers

Submit for $10 rebate HERE

=$.99, get back $5 ECB

4 American Greeting/Hallmark Cards .99

Use Buy 3 Get 1 Free CVS coupon from red machine (up to $2.99)

=$.97, get $3 ECB (if full price is applied)

1 Carmex Moisture Plus $1.19

Use $1.50 off 1 CVS coupon from red machine

Use $.30 off 1 from 10/30 Sunday Inserts

=$0

=$3.72, get back $16 ECB amd $2.02 profit from rebate

Transaction #2:

3 Glade Sense or Spray $5 /each(limit 1)

Use (3) $3 off 1 coupons from the 1/15 Sunday Inserts

Use $2 off 2 CVS coupon from red machine

=$4, get back $4 ECB

2 Huggies diapers or Pull-Ups $9.50/each

Use 2 $2 off 1 HUGGIES or PULL-UPS

=$15, get back $1 ECB

=$19, use $16 ECB and $2.02 profit from previous transaction

=$.98, get back $5 ECB

Transaction #3:

1 Scott Mega-Rolls 6 pack $5/each (part of buy $30, get $10 cash card)

Use $1 off 1 coupon from 1/15 Sunday Newspaper

Get back $1 from Saving Star

2 Coke Zero 12 packs $2.50/each (part of buy $30, get $10 cash card)

Use 2 $.99 off 1 coupons from HERE

=$6.02, use $5 ECB from above transaction

=$1.02, and $10 towards buy $30, get $10 cash card!

Bottom line: $5.72 out of pocket, $84.88 worth of products and that includes two packs of Huggies! You know CVS are 24 hours right?

I agree with you on doable couponing rather than extreme couponing. I don’t even do multiple transactions……even though it means more out of pocket. I’m just glad to get great deals on stuff we actually use.

  Hi Dede! The $5 series is geared more towards new couponers just starting out, so they don’t have to pay too much out of pocket. I, myself, don’t do multiple transactions, unless there’s a coupon limit, i.e. if the coupon says “Only 4 per transaction.” Thanks for stopping by!
