I have bragging rights and I will use them accordingly! Last week I entered a best burger recipe contest and I won The funny thing about all of this.. I didn’t even own a grill..until NOW!

You can substitute almost every ingredient in this recipe, except one…GINGER! For around $.15, grab a 1 inch piece of fresh ginger, mince it up and throw it in the meat…you’ll thank me later.

I see what I was missing. I really can’t believe the difference in frying on a grill pan and grilling on smoky charcoal. That smoky flavor can’t be matched.

Ingredients
- 1/4 c. mayonnaise
- 1 T soy sauce
- 2 limes
- 1 10 oz. bag shredded cabbage
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 cup cilantro, chopped
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 T fresh ginger
- 1 t. sesame oil
- 4 hamburger buns
Instructions
- Mix together mayonnaise and soy sauce, set aside. Grate zest and squeeze lime juice and place in large bowl. Toss zest and juice with cabbage and salt and pepper. Refrigerate until ready to use.
- In medium bowl, combine beef, cilantro, green onions, ginger, sesame oil, and salt until blended. DO NOT over-mix or the meat will be tough, you want it tender and juicy.
- Shape mixture into patties and grill or use grill pan (what we have) about 10-12 minutes.
- Serve burgers on buns with slaw and soy mayonnaise.
