$5 for $22 Worth of Product at Walgreens Includes a Shaver

New to couponing? I understand the overwhelmed feeling! So many deals, but how can it all come together in a smooth transaction? The key is using as little money out of your own pocket as possible. It takes creativity, time and experience to see the “deal through all the coupons.” Every week I pick the one drugstore I think has the best deals that week. My goal is to not spend more than $5.99 out of pocket and see how far we can s-t-r-e-t-c-h our money!

If you’re new to couponing in general check out my 10 Step Couponing course and my post about the language of coupons and how to read match-ups.

Some notes about shopping at Walgreens:

  • Keep their coupon policy handy in case you need it.
  • Their cashback program is called Register Rewards (RR). A coupon that prints from a separate machine that can be used to purchase anything in the store, except prescriptions.
  • You can use a manufacturer coupon AND a Walgreens store coupon on one item.
  • Walgreens has store coupons in their weekly store flyer AND in a separate booklet that you find in-store.
  • The Walgreens coupons found in the Monthly Booklet deduct amounts equal to the products, so you only need 1 coupon regardless of how many products you are buying of that item.
  • You can’t use more coupons than products. Register Rewards are counted as coupons.
  • Register Rewards don’t “roll,” which means you cannot use an RR received from a manufacturer to buy another item from the same manufacturer, the RR will not print again.

Fillers- Walgreens must have a 1:1 ratio of product to coupons. The register considers an RR coupon, even though we look at it as cash. So if you have 1 product and 1 coupon and 1 RR, you have to add in any cheap item so the register doesn’t beep/freeze/shut down etc. :)

Here is a list of some super cheap items that you could use:
$.39 school supplies includes Sharpies!
$.69 school supplies includes rulers, protractors
$.39 legal pads

Thanks for these posts! I actually study them! :) Do you need a card to shop Walgreens? Or do you get RRs automatically?
