Don’t Read This, It’s Not Pretty

You didn’t listen. Just know that you have been warned. As I get ready to attend my first ever huge blogging conference (BlogHer)  coming up in NYC, I can’t help but get butterflies in my stomach.

  • Is it the bright lights of NYC?
  • Is it the presence of high profile bloggers and celebrities?
  • Is it feeling alone in a sea of thousands?

NO, to all of the above.

So, what is it?!

…..getting dressed…

Come again? Yes, packing my suitcase makes me more high-strung and anxious than taking my three little ones with me alone on a cross-country flight.

Trying to figure out what to wear with what shoes and  finding a cute matching scarf…just typing it makes my heart palpitate…I started a Pinterest board to help focus my fashion efforts.

I have a goal for BlogHer, and it involves a makeover. Our struggles the past three years are what led me to blog. This year is the happy beginning to a new chapter in our lives. Getting out of debt involves physical and emotional sacrifice. I love shopping but I gave it up for three years to help get my family out of the hole we had dug.

Not only did we finally get out of debt {woot!}, but my blog received some wonderful recognition.

Doing something for myself would be a celebration and fabulous way to end this phenomenal year.

When you give up shopping, you forget how to shop! I browse through stores totally clueless.

I don’t know what the latest styles are, or where to even look. I’m not confident what my size is, though being petite, I’m thinking that Large shirt I bought was a bad decision.

Let’s re-cap this year with a look back at TheFrugalette in press shall we?…Do you notice a trend?

Foiled again by baby!

Winning a Whole Foods Best Burger Contest…wasn’t that tricky of me..hiding behind my recipe!

So, yeah for success..and boo for hiding! There won’t be any baby or props to save me at BlogHer. I can’t hide behind any object..it’s all me. So, wish me luck! I’m hoping to get primped and prepped for my big debut in front of real LIVE people. :)

Disclosure: In writing this post, I’m entering the Microsoft Windows Style Makeover sweepstakes for a chance to win a head to toe makeover!

Remember, If you feel good inside, you will shine, and dazzle the crowd.

  11. What to wear at BlogHer is one thing…what to wear at BlogHer when it's in NYC is another! I went to BlogHer last year because it was near our avocado farm in San Diego. I hadn't even started my blog yet! This year I'll be coming to BlogHer from visiting my mother in Vermont. So I'm bringing 2 new cute scarves to put on over my otherwise plain attire. And a new pair of earrings. Hope that's enough….it's all I can do under the circumstances. We could take turns standing in front of each other?
