Every month is a better month than others to stock up on items you really want or need. One thing that’s obvious this month is back to school shopping. The deals are coming out of every which way! In general all items related to school supplies will be items to watch for.
BACKPACKS
Retailers drop the price on all backpacks this month like crazy! Just this week I posted about a backpack at OfficeMax for ONE PENNY! Buy a couple backpacks, because if your kids are like mine they will tear through those bad boys with gusto come mid-year! Also watch the deals at Toys-R-Us, last year they gave free lunch bags with the purchase of a backpack, and they started at $10.
ACCESSORIES
How cute is that necklace I got made? Although not on discount it was very reasonable at youmakeitpersonal.etsy.com. However, accessories, belts and scarves are at an all time low this month. Not sure why this is, but according to CBSnews it may have to do with all the lighter colors and materials getting phased out to make room for Fall fashions.
GARDENING SUPPLIES
With gardening season coming to an end, stores want their plants out so they don’t go to waste. If you have a green thumb (not me!) might want to check the gardening sections for clearance plants and flowers.
STORAGE CONTAINERS
With kids heading off to college, parents are looking to buy storage boxes to keep their kids’ stuff in or send with them! This week already there is a sale on storage boxes at Staples. I’m always looking for storage containers..kids have so much *stuff* don’t they, so I’ll be keeping a lookout for this deal.
SHOES
I mentioned in my last post how I bought three pairs of shoes. I couldn’t help myself, the price was so rock-bottom! Pretty, sparkly sandals for $9 down from $30 and another pair for $20, down from $65..how can a girl resist? So, while 3 pairs of shoes may have been pushing it, the prices are just so low these days.

I love buying school supplies in August – especially things like Crayola products that tend to not go on sale much during the rest of the year!
