Are you broke yet?
Man, back to school breaks the bank!
Between new clothes, school supplies, school lunch foods and all the little knick knacks in between it’s no wonder they get 2 months off. It takes that long to save up for it all!
My kids go to private school and twice a week they go to an after school tutoring center, Kumon. It’s not cheap, by any means, but we sacrifice in so many other financial ways that we barely are able to send them. I hope their brains thank us later.
I always heard how expensive kids are. I got the drugstore thing down, unfortunately, credit at CVS doesn’t pay for school uniforms.
If you’re tired of spending on back to school, here are some sites I dug up that are friendly on the pocket book, as in FREE!
CHEGG
Chegg.com, formerly cramster, is great for quick questions your high school or college kid might have about homework or textbooks. Get help in math, calculus, algebra, physics, chemistry, science, accounting, English and more.
GRAPH PAPER
How cool is this! At graphpaper.us you can generate free printable graph paper. Just put in your selections and voila! Print and save your selections if you need it next time. Great for practicing before you make the final graph!
NUMBER2
Do you know anyone who will be taking the SAT, ACT or GRE soon? Number2.com offers FREE test prep! Test prep is so uber expensive, this is a great service. Just sign up, pick your course and parents can monitor the progress.
LIVEMOCHA
Parelz vous Francaise? Well you can with livemocha.com! You can choose from over 38 languages to practice with native speakers from around the world. There are structured classes with an instructor, sign up for as many as you want!
SBA
Have you always wanted to start your business but don’t know where to start, or are you looking for a mentor? SBA.gov, the small business association, offers FREE courses in marketing, accounting and help to get your business of the ground. What business have you dreamed of opening? I have a few in mind!
MIT OpenCourseWare
I live down the street from MIT and I just found out about this. Do you have a budding scientist in your home? MIT, yes THE MIT, posts their courses and exams online in a web based publication FREE for anyone to enjoy and dive into! No registration is even needed. Free lectures, notes, exams and even videos.
MOZY
How many pics, files and programs are flying in cyberspace? Kinda scary right! We always hear we have to back up things and we don’t. Mozy.com give you up to 2 GB of storage space FREE. They even back up iPhone and Android apps and will sync your computers.
Consider this post the light at the end of the Back to School tunnel. Some things are FREE, you just need to know where to look!
Have you found any cool freebies I should add to this list?
