Two Easy Ways to Donate Back to School Supplies

back to school

Without teacher appreciation, there can’t be any student progress. – Theresa Grimm

I taught First Grade one time many years ago.

Those kids must be close to finishing high school by now…I said it was a long time ago. I got my Bachelor’s degree, Master’s, even started the road to a Ph.D., but the madness had to end somewhere. The point is, I studied really hard before I started teaching.

Something they don’t tell you in college; besides lesson planning, grading, and storytime..you need school supplies. It takes a small village to keep a classroom well stocked up.

Sure, the school might hand some over and send you off on your way, but it will never be enough! When 14 kids all descend into one room anxious to craft, color and write at the same time…the only thing that keeps you calm is knowing you have enough supplies to go around.

Elmer’s totally gets that.

Who better to understand the needs of teachers and schools than Elmer’s!  The Frugalette has become Back to School HQ. I’ve been writing for weeks telling you about all the awesome deals on school supplies and that this is the time to stock up.

Stocking up also means an opportunity to donate!

This is an absolute rock bottom price for Elmer’s glue sticks. At prices this low, I bought extra to donate to my daughter’s Kindergarten teacher.  Want help with pricing? Check out my printable stock up price list to keep handy.  And remember Walmart will price match!

Filled with supplies to donate to my daughter’s teacher. All of this came to $20 and with all the storage boxes on sale these days, I bought one for around $5.  I filled it up and sealed it with a bow! She can use the storage box also, because don’t we all need more storage.

With all the excitement of Back to School shopping these are two super simple ways to make a great donation and Bag It Forward.

I’m really excited to hand over this back to school donation gift in a couple weeks. No need for a gift bag, this is present enough. :)

Love this! I know my son's teacher spent alot of her own money to buy supplies. It is so important to help them make a difference to our children and other children in need!

    • Thanks for stopping by Joan! It's so true, people don't realize how much teachers have to pay for supplies out of their own pocket. It's so appreciated when we all help them out.

Thank you for the tips! I try to donate something to the classroom every year. My son is going into 2nd grade, and they provide all the supplies, so I figure I can at least help by getting a little something.

  3. That is such a great thing to do and I love the ideas you gave. Teachers really do put a lot more effort in things than most people realize.

  4. This is really great! Two of my best friends are elementary school teachers and I know they spend a lot of their own money to stock their classrooms.

  5. Great idea putting it in the tote like that – teachers can always use storage solutions!

  7. Such an awesome way to give back! And you got a lot of items to donate – I'm impressed!

  8. What a great way to give back! I love to hear that the app makes it so easy too. Such a modern way to reach out and help others.

  11. Wow…. great price on those glue sticks is right!

Last year was our first (pre-) school year and I was completely anxious. Now that I have a year under my belt, I can really see the need to donate to the schools my children attend. This is something I look forward to doing this year and in future years!

  12. Thank you so much for sharing your insights into the challenges teachers face! I hope your thoughtful donation will inspire others to support teachers and students in need this back to school season!
