Attend Macy’s 7th Annual Spelling Bee, I Did!

Makes me nervous just looking at it.
 
Sweaty palms, heavy breathing, shifty eyes…and that’s the parents. I’ll admit spelling was never my strong suit. However, I would watch those spelling competitions on TV with such enthusiasm, you would think my kid was in the final round or something.
 
So when I found out our local mall was one of the locations to host Macy’s 7th Annual Spelling Bee, running from August 25-September 22nd in locations across the country, I woke up early Saturday morning to get a good seat for the show!

And how cool the host of  our local Macy’s Spelling Bee was from Radio Disney!
 
My kids are all under 6 and they had fun watching and learning how Spelling Bees work. If you have a child between 8-11 years of age and they love to spell, you might want to check if there is a competition near you that they can join.

All kids walk away with a consolation prize, a bag of books.
 
The grand prize winner from each of the 27 participating Macy’s gets:

  • One year online learning from Kaplan tutorial
  • $150 Scholastic Gift Card
  • $100 Macy’s Gift Card
  • Apple iPad 3

 

That’s a prize package of over $1600!
 
So, if I start training, drilling, helping them learn from now, I’m thinking my kids will be ready to enter in a couple years. What do you think? ;)

    We tried for the one here in Atlanta but we didn’t get a chance to enter my song because they had reached their limit.

    Can I just say what a relief to search out anyone who really knows exactly what they are discussing on the internet. You actually recognize how to take a major issue to light and allow it to important. Even more people require to read this particular and know it side of the story.
