I Got A Present On My Friend’s Birthday

room to grow charity

Abundance is a wonderful thing.

This is a small snapshot of the many shelves and rooms filled from floor to ceiling with children’s clothing, toys and gear all ready to help a family in need.

My fellow blogging buddy, Niri, organized a very special event in celebration of her birthday. Instead of cake, candles and gifts, she asked us to volunteer. She invited her blogging buddies to donate their morning to helping out at her favorite charity here in Boston, Room to Grow.

Room to Grow is a non-profit charity dedicated to enriching the lives of  young ones born into poverty. They focus on caring for babies from 0-3 years of age.

Last weekend I lost pretty much our whole pantry. While it shocked and saddened me, seeing my daughter sitting in a room full of donation items meant for children her age was humbling. She’s privileged and I’m grateful, for everything.

She is provided for abundantly and that is all that matters.

I had no idea weeks ago that giving my friend a gift of time would give me back something just as dear, gratitude.

Life has a funny way of working itself out.

A special thank you to Room to Grow for having us, EventBrite for providing lunch and these awesome bloggers I’m proud to call friends: Mommy NiriGroovy Green Livin, umommy, Capability Mom, Melanie In The Middle, Dont Mind The Mess, random recyclingIt’s not like a cat…

  7. It’s great to see bloggers giving back in such a wonderful way. So often we hear stories of “click this and such & such will donate on your behalf” – I love that y’all got together and actually DID something for your community.
Super cool, and a great way to celebrate!

    • Thanks Emily! At the end of the day, we just have to actually get out and do something, there is only so much that we can do sitting behind a screen! :)
