If you have a baguette, you’ll need it. This Alfredo Sauce recipe is a bite of comfort nirvana. If you’ve ever made the Olive Garden Alfredo Sauce recipe this is better and so much easier!
Sauces are not for culinary masters. The only trick you need to know, is to stir and keep the heat low.
Forget store bought. Once you have the ingredients, it’s really a pour, stir and eat.
This is what the sauce looks like right before I poured it in an empty jar. I added (a lot) of fresh cracked pepper on top.
Most versions use a lot of butter and cream. Yes, butter and cream is always good, mine cuts down half the fat and I actually prefer it to the full fat version.

Ingredients
- 1/2 stick butter
- 3 Tablespoons cream cheese
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup milk
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
- salt, pepper
- pinch of nutmeg
Instructions
- Over medium heat, melt the butter and add garlic. Cook for 1 minute.
- Add cream cheese, keep stirring until melted.Slowly pour in cream and milk and keep whisking.
- Add Parmesan cheese in small amounts and keep stirring on medium-low heat until well combined.
- Remove from heat and add salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve over pasta or with baguette for dipping!
Have you ever made Alfredo Sauce before?

Hi! I'm Isra, aka The Frugalette. I took my family from fancy to frugal in 3 years, with 3 kids and 1 income, oh and found the meaning of life too! To read more about my fancy life gone frugal,

Wow, that sounds SOOOO good. I’ll have to make it sometime when my lactose-intolerant child is at my mom’s for the weekend!
It is such a yummy, easy dinner date for two.
This is great… I hear that making your own sauces at home can be more healthier and tastier and even cost less … in the process of doing it myself
Awesome! Hope it turned out yummy.
That looks so good. Never thought about making it myself. Seemed complicated but this is perfect!
I always got nervous about sauces, they seem so delicate, but this is so easy! Really just dump and stir, and keep the heat low, you don’t want it to every boil.
Have to try!
It is so yummy.
Looks wonderful! One of my husband’s favorite foods is Chicken Alfredo. I also make it homemade but never with a pinch of nutmeg. Will have to try this soon. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
I’m a spice girl, I think it needs just a pinch.
Have a good weekend!
yummy! i love pastas and this looks delicious!
Thanks, hope you try it!
My friend makes her chicken soup with just a pinch of nutmeg – makes a bid difference.
So interesting, would have never thought to put it in soup!
Mmmmm this looks delicious! Thank you for sharing this recipe, I’ll try it sometime this month or next month and leave a comment on how it turned out for me.
That sounds so easy and tasty. The only similar thing I’ve made is a white sauce for pizza.
Looks delicious and so simple!
This is great! I have always wanted to make my own alfredo sauce. Now I know
Thanks Isra! Pinning too.
Awesome, thanks Tamar! You really have to try it, divine! So so good!
I love that you stayed true to the real essence of Alfredo, butter and cream. Just the tiniest bit of cream cheese is sweet also, can’t believe some recipes call for 4-8oz!!I’ll be saving your recipe.
Hi Kari! Also a lot of recipes call for 2 cups of cream. I used just one but another cup for milk. I hope you try it, it is so yummy!
So much easier than the grated parm/cream/butter alfredo sauce that I’ve made in the past, that I have to stand and stir forever…who has time for that?!
I’m going to make this alfredo sauce this week!!!
Looks delicious and simple to make!
Thank you so much for the recipe. I have saved it to may favorites and will be making it in the near future.
Lower fat is always better for us. And I’m sure that this will make wonderful chicken alfredo.

What a wonderful easy recipe. I can’t wait to try it out. It looks so good.
I’m all about easy recipes!
Jar sauce creeps me out….you really don’t know what’s in it. I’ve always made my own….and if you eat jarred sauce after eating homemade, you can always taste the difference.
Ha! It does worry me too..and it really doesn’t taste the same at all!
Thanks so much for this! Was just looking for an alfredo recipe.
I wanted alfredo so bad last night but didn’t want to order it to go. This is the 1st recipe I looked at. I just have to say, this is the BEST alfredo I’ve had, truly. I used 3/4 c. milk because all I had was 1% along with the cream. I sauteed jumbo shrimp in garlic seperately and added them to the top of my angel hair pasta before spooning the sauce over the top. I will never order alfredo in a restaurant again. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. Now on to look at the rest of your website!!!
That’s awesome Marcia! it is my favorite Alfredo recipe, so happy you liked it!
