“A made bed on a Saturday. I win at life.” -Amy from MomSpark.net
At the beginning of every week in 2013 I’ll be sharing a different way to get happy for FREE. Being happy doesn’t cost anything except your decision to try. I show you how I got happy that week and hope to inspire you to do the same. Join my Get Happy for FREE challenge, you have nothing to lose and a whole lot of smiles to gain!
This is a pic from my friend, Amy of Momspark.net. She posted it on Instagram 5 months ago. When I was thinking about this week’s Happy Challenge, I remembered her pic and what she said about it.
What is it about making our bed that makes us feel so accomplished? It’s a simple act with a strong impact.
The Happiness Challenges are not meant to do as many as you can all the time. It’s about finding what works for you and sticking to it. Simple accomplishments done consistently will lead to positive outcomes!
Does such a simple act really lead to happiness?
In a survey of 68,000 people by Hunch.com only 27 percent of people make their beds while 59 percent don’t make their beds.
Of those 27 percent, 71 percent of bed makers report being happy while 62 percent of non-bed makers report being unhappy!
Does this mean making your bed will make you happy? No. Does it mean there is a correlation between bed-makers happiness and non-bed makers unhappiness. Yes!
Week 8:
We are going to make our bed.
I reached out to my blogging buddies for inspiration! Check out the beautiful beds of my fellow bloggers and while you’re at it, check out their blog and tell them thank you for sharing!
“When my bed is made, I just want to jump in and hug my pillows.” - Nadia from LoveLiveandGarden.com
“Making my bed in the morning is like putting on my makeup. I don’t feel ready until it’s done.” - Ellen from Confessionsofanover-workedmom.com
“I wish I made our bed more. When I wash the sheets, I make the bed and my husband and I always comment on how nice a freshly made bed feels. Why not have that feeling every day?” -Stacey from NewlywedSuvival.com
“When you come back to a made bed at the end of the day, that one bit of order, even in the midst of all the chaos of life, gives you a sense of balance. It’s a lovely moment of peace, inevitably followed by that irresistible urge to just dive in and mess it up again!”-Jessa from ShalomSweetHome.com
“I got new bedding and I LOVE it! It makes me so happy!”-Tiffany from FabulousFindsByTiffany.com

Hi! I'm Isra, aka The Frugalette. I took my family from fancy to frugal in 3 years, with 3 kids and 1 income, oh and found the meaning of life too! To read more about my fancy life gone frugal,

My mom always insisted that I make my bed first thing every day. It’s a habit that has stuck with me. It’s something so simple but it makes me feel more organized and ready to start my day.
Thanks for including me in your round up. I just love the bed at the top of the post. So gorgeous!
Thanks for featuring my bed and my quote.
Your bed was the inspiration for my post! Thank you Amy!
That is awesome.
I agree, I feel better after I make my bed. As a rule I make my bed every morning after my quite me and coffee time. I always asked my children to make their beds before leaving for school each day.
The pictures are wonderful.
Seeeee!!! Even when I look at it in a picture on your site I want to jump in and hug my pillows lol!!!
I always sleep so much better when my bed is made but rarely do it anymore. This is a great reminder that happiness can be only minutes away.
You know… I never thought about the connection between making a bed and happiness, but you’re right. After reading this I just went in and cleaned up my room… made the bed and it actually cheered me up. I do love a clean room.
I made my bed! I even went so far as to put the cover on my down comforter that has been off for weeks since I last washed it. It really is the little things that perk you up!
I’m just not a bed maker, never have been. Now I love fresh sheets and pillow cases though! I used to spritz lavender on the bed before bedtime. That made me happy!
So you’re not a bed maker, but you sound like a bed lover! loool
Haha! Love that quote! I am so lazy at bedmaking, but it is so pretty when I actually do make it.

1st quote, I should have said.
